The American Speech Language Hearing Association defines "telepractice" is the application of telecommunications technology to the delivery of speech language pathology and audiology professional services at a distance by linking clinician to client/patient or clinician to clinician for assessment, intervention, and/or consultation.***
Teletherapy can be used to assess and treat a variety of disorders. Such as:
The requirements to receive or participate in teletherapy sessions are minimal. A client would need to have basic equipment, which consists of a computer, webcam, headset with attached microphone and a high-speech internet connection, preferably via Ethernet.

Teletherapy sessions are cost-effective. Teletherapy reduces travel expenses for both the clinician and the client. Sessions can be conducted wherever the client is located. Locations include homes, schools, offices and etc. Depending on the availability of the clinician and client, sessions can be scheduled at morning, noon or night with a licensed therapist.
Furthermore, children presenting with speech-language disorders have been known to respond very well to therapy over the internet. Teletherapy makes improvement of speech skills easy and convenient.
